Artificial intelligence and its application in business were the focus of the 3rd Burgenland Future Symposium, which took place on April 9, 2026 at Friedensburg Schlaining.
The event brought together scientific perspectives and concrete application examples and offered insights into current technological developments and the practical use of AI in organizations.
The AI Factory Austria AI:AT was part of the event, organized by the Burgenland Business Agency together with regional partners. The symposium highlighted the strong regional potential in the field of AI and combined this with expertise from all over Austria.
AI Factory Austria AI:AT was represented with an information stand, where Daniel Lehner and Linus Ersing discussed knowledge transfer, specific use cases and possible collaborations with visitors.
In addition Daniel Lehner led the workshop “Beyond GenAI: Which AI techniques actually work in a manufacturing context?”. The focus was on practical AI approaches beyond generative methods – such as predictive maintenance and adaptive systems – and their potential uses in industrial applications.
The rest of the workshop programme covered topics such as trustworthy AI in companies (Burgenland University of Applied Sciences), cybersecurity as a prerequisite for the use of AI (Siemens Austria) and structured approaches to implementing AI processes in organizations (Ernst & Young), thus providing a comprehensive overview of the application of AI in practice.
As a national initiative, AI:AT supports the development of AI throughout Austria. Events like this make an important contribution to creating awareness, facilitating exchange and providing orientation for organizations that want to use AI in a structured and responsible manner.
