Female Vibe-Coding Vibes: Where Women Shape the Future of AI

Anyone who takes part in HPC and AI hackathons quickly notices that women are significantly underrepresented among the participants. This is not just a personal impression—it is reflected in the numbers as well.

Worldwide, women account for only about 20% of the workforce in the AI sector , even though artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly important in nearly every industry. Greater diversity in AI is not only a matter of equal opportunity but also helps to develop technologies that reflect a wider variety of perspectives and experiences.

That’s why we were especially excited to host Female Vibe-Coding Vibes—a women-only mini hackathon—on July 1 at the AI Factory Austria Coworking Hub.

Instead of competition, the event focused on experimentation. Participants from a wide variety of professional backgrounds came together to  Lovable Developing prototypes, websites, and apps.

The event was organised by Janine BessenAnda ReuterAnanda Voice and Iveta Simsa, with support from Daniela Grund of the AI Factory Austria team, who established contact with AI:AT and secured the coworking hub as the event venue. Lovable generously provided the necessary platform credits, while the organizing team volunteered their time, making the event possible in the first place.

The projects presented at the end of the hackathon included a startup idea validation tool, a job application manager, an app designed to help families share the mental load more fairly, an Airbnb-style platform for accommodating people during heatwaves, portfolio websites, and personalised travel planners. What all the projects had in common was a clear ambition to make an impact, streamline processes, and creatively apply technology to real-world challenges.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the evening was its collaborative atmosphere. Participants openly shared their ideas, exchanged valuable feedback, and were already making plans to continue working together on future projects.

As the inaugural edition of Female Vibe-Coding Vibes, the mini hackathon was a great success. AI Factory Austria would like to sincerely thank the organisers, all participants, and Lovable for an inspiring evening. The team looks forward to supporting more initiatives that empower women to engage with AI and help strengthen Austria’s AI community for the long term.
