The event brought together directors, coordinators, and student representatives from various doctoral schools to discuss how research and entrepreneurship can be more closely connected.

AI:AT collaborates with startups, companies, public administration, and research institutions, providing valuable insights into current challenges, infrastructure needs, and emerging application areas for artificial intelligence. A key focus of the discussion was how researchers with relevant expertise can be connected early on with these opportunities and supported in developing application-oriented projects and potential startup ventures.

Particularly valuable was the exchange of ideas on which target groups, communication channels, and multipliers are most effective in reaching researchers interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. The discussions highlighted the importance of identifying talents who combine scientific excellence with a strong application focus and an openness to entrepreneurial development.

The event was opened by Markus Stöhr, Co-Lead of AI Factory Austria AI:AT, who welcomed the participants. Sasa Radic, COO of AI, introduced the AI Factory and its venture-building program. Marco Masia, Head of the Entrepreneurship Hub at the University of Vienna, spoke about entrepreneurial skills and career development opportunities within the university. Laura Pana, AI Factory Liaison Officer at the University of Vienna, moderated the event and presented the collaboration between the University of Vienna and AI:AT.

The gathering also provided participants with an opportunity to learn more about AI’s role within Austria’s AI ecosystem, the support services currently available, and potential avenues for future collaboration.

Both partners intend to continue the dialogue and explore further opportunities to promote research-driven innovation and venture creation.
